Look, we get it - nobody really enjoys reading privacy policies. But here's the thing: we actually care about your information and want you to know exactly what we're doing with it. No corporate jargon, just straight talk about how Onyx Valorix Architecture handles your data.
When you reach out to us or work with us on a project, we'll collect stuff like your name, email, phone number, and project address. Pretty standard stuff really.
If you're filling out our contact form or requesting a consultation, we'll ask for details about your project - what you're looking to build, your timeline, budget range (yeah, we know it's a sensitive topic but it helps us serve you better), and any specific sustainability goals you've got in mind.
We also keep records of our conversations - emails, meeting notes, design preferences. It's how we make sure we're actually listening to what you want and not just imposing our vision on your space.
Our website collects some basic analytics through cookies - stuff like which pages you visit, how long you stick around, where you're browsing from. Nothing creepy, just helps us understand if our portfolio section is actually worth a damn or needs work.
Here's what we do with your info - and honestly, it's all pretty straightforward:
Getting back to you: When you contact us, we use your details to respond. Groundbreaking, right?
Working on your project: All those design preferences, site details, and requirements you share? That's what we use to actually design and deliver your project. We'll share relevant info with our team members who need it - our structural engineers aren't gonna see your email history, but they'll need your site measurements.
Staying in touch: If you've worked with us or expressed interest, we might send occasional updates about the studio, new sustainability practices we're implementing, or relevant industry insights. Not spam, just the good stuff. And you can opt out anytime.
Legal stuff: Sometimes we gotta keep records for legal or regulatory reasons - building permits, contracts, that sort of thing. It's required by law in Ontario, not our choice.
Making our site better: Those analytics we mentioned? We use 'em to figure out what's working and what's not on our website.
We're not in the business of selling your data. That's just not how we roll. But we do work with some trusted partners:
Project collaborators: Engineers, contractors, sustainability consultants - the people who help bring your project to life. They only get the info they need to do their part.
Service providers: Our email hosting, cloud storage, project management software - these companies process data on our behalf. They're all bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
Legal requirements: If we're legally required to disclose information (court orders, regulatory inquiries), we'll comply. But we'll fight to protect your privacy where we can.
That's it. We don't sell to marketing companies, we don't trade data, we don't do any of that nonsense.
We take security seriously. All your data is stored on secure servers with encryption. Our team uses password-protected systems, and we regularly update our security measures.
Physical files (yeah, we still have some) are kept locked in our studio at 1245 Queen Street West, and only team members who need access have it.
Our website uses SSL encryption - that little lock icon in your browser. It means data transmitted between your computer and our site is secure.
Look, no system is 100% foolproof, but we're doing everything reasonable to keep your info safe. And if there's ever a breach, we'll let you know immediately - not months later after trying to cover it up.
It's your data. Here's what you can do with it:
Access: Want to know what info we have about you? Just ask. We'll send you a copy.
Corrections: If something's wrong or outdated, let us know and we'll fix it.
Deletion: Want us to delete your info? We'll do it, unless we're legally required to keep it (like for completed building projects - those records gotta stick around).
Opt-out: Don't wanna receive our updates anymore? Hit that unsubscribe button or shoot us an email. No hard feelings.
Data portability: Need your data in a format you can use elsewhere? We'll provide it in a commonly used format.
To exercise any of these rights, just email us at studio@onyxvalorix.info or give us a call at (416) 555-0127. We'll respond within 30 days.
Our website uses cookies - those little text files that websites store on your browser. Here's what we're using 'em for:
Essential cookies: These keep the site functioning properly. Can't really turn these off without breaking things.
Analytics cookies: Help us understand how people use the site. We use this to make improvements. You can disable these in your browser settings if you want.
Preference cookies: Remember your settings so you don't have to keep telling us the same stuff.
We don't use advertising cookies or any of that tracking-you-across-the-internet stuff. That's just invasive.
Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. Check your browser's help section if you wanna adjust this.
We keep your information for as long as it's needed:
Active projects: Throughout the project and for 7 years after completion. That's Ontario's legal requirement for architectural records.
Inquiries that didn't go anywhere: About 2 years, in case you change your mind and come back to us.
Marketing communications: Until you unsubscribe or we haven't heard from you in 3 years. If you're not engaging, we'll stop bothering you.
Financial records: 7 years for tax purposes. That's the law, not us being nosy.
After these periods, we securely delete or anonymize your data.
Sometimes we link to other websites - maybe a supplier we work with, an article about sustainable design, or a partner's portfolio. Once you click those links, you're on their turf and their privacy policies apply.
We try to only link to reputable sites, but we can't control what they do with your data. So just be aware when you're clicking around.
We might update this policy from time to time - new laws, new technologies, changes in how we operate. When we do, we'll update the date at the top and notify you if it's a significant change.
If you're a client or subscriber, we'll send you an email letting you know about major updates. For minor tweaks, we'll just post the updated version here.
We'd recommend checking back occasionally, especially if you're working with us on a project.

Bottom line: We respect your privacy because we'd want ours respected too. We're not perfect, but we're honest and we're trying our best to handle your information responsibly. If you've got questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out.
